Meet Dr. Michael J. Sileo

Dr. Sileo, a proud Long Island native from Garden City, graduated magna cum laude from the College of William and Mary in 1998 and earned his medical degree at SUNY Stony Brook in 2002. His comprehensive training includes a surgical internship and orthopedic surgery residency at SUNY Stony Brook, where he was honored to be the administrative chief resident in his final year. He completed a prestigious fellowship in sports medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, serving as an assistant team orthopedist for the New York Jets and New York Islanders, among others. Dr. Sileo has extensively published on knee injuries, including complex ligament injuries and meniscal tears, and presented his research at national meetings. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in both Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery (FAAOS).

Dr. Sileo is dedicated to the care of both competitive and recreational athletes, often found on the sidelines of local football games. His expertise lies in arthroscopic and minimally invasive treatments for knee injuries, but he is well-versed in all areas of orthopedics, including hip and shoulder injuries. He is among the few orthopedic surgeons in the tri-state area performing hip arthroscopy for labral tears and femoroacetabular impingement.

Dr. Sileo emphasizes rehabilitation and injury prevention in his practice. His interests also include treating cartilage injuries, meniscal tears, and utilizing platelet-rich plasma therapy. Currently, he serves as the Director of the Division of Sports Medicine at St. Charles Hospital and is the President of the St. Charles Medical Staff.
