Meet Dr. Michael J. Sileo

Dr. Sileo, a proud native of Garden City, Long Island, graduated magna cum laude from the College of William and Mary in 1998. He earned his medical degree at SUNY Stony Brook in 2002, followed by a surgical internship and orthopedic surgery residency at the same institution, where he was honored to serve as administrative chief resident in his final year. Dr. Sileo completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the renowned Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, acting as an assistant team orthopedist for the New York Jets, New York Islanders, Hofstra University, and Hunter University. He has extensively published on shoulder, knee, and ankle injuries, including rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, labral tears, complex knee ligament injuries, and Achilles tears, sharing his clinical research at both regional and national meetings. Dr. Sileo is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in both Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, and he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery (FAAOS).

Dr. Sileo is passionate about caring for both competitive and recreational athletes. He actively participates in the community, often found caring for athletes on the sidelines of local football games. He specializes in arthroscopic and minimally invasive treatments for shoulder, hip, and knee injuries, and has extensive experience in both operative and non-operative orthopedics. Notably, Dr. Sileo is among the few orthopedic surgeons in the tri-state area who regularly performs hip arthroscopy for minimally invasive treatment of hip labral tears and femoroacetabular impingement.

Dr. Sileo’s practice focuses on rehabilitation and training to prevent sports-related injuries. His other interests include treating cartilage and meniscal injuries, platelet-rich plasma therapy, and fracture care. Currently, he serves as the Director for the Division of Sports Medicine at St. Charles Hospital and is the President of the St. Charles Medical Staff.
