Meet Dr. Michael J. Sileo
Board Certified Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine

Dr. Sileo, a proud native of Garden City, Long Island, graduated magna cum laude from the College of William and Mary in 1998 and earned his medical degree at SUNY Stony Brook in 2002. He completed his surgical internship and orthopedic surgery residency at SUNY Stony Brook, where he was honored to be selected as the administrative chief resident in his final year. Following this, he pursued a fellowship in sports medicine at the renowned Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, serving as an assistant team orthopedist for the New York Jets, New York Islanders, Hofstra University, and Hunter College. Dr. Sileo has authored numerous publications on shoulder, knee, and ankle injuries, including rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, labral tears, complex knee ligament injuries, and Achilles tears, and has presented his research at both regional and national conferences. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in both Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery (FAAOS).
Dr. Sileo is particularly passionate about caring for both competitive and recreational athletes. He is actively involved in the local community and can often be found providing care for athletes on the sidelines of various local football teams. He specializes in arthroscopic and minimally invasive treatments for shoulder, hip, and knee injuries, and has extensive experience in both operative and non-operative orthopedics. Notably, Dr. Sileo is among the few orthopedic surgeons in the tri-state area who routinely performs hip arthroscopy for minimally invasive treatment of hip labral tears and femoroacetabular impingement.
Dr. Sileo’s practice emphasizes rehabilitation and training to prevent sports-related injuries. His areas of expertise also include the treatment of cartilage and meniscal injuries, platelet-rich plasma therapy, and fracture care. Currently, he serves as the Director of the Division of Sports Medicine at St. Charles Hospital and is the President of the St. Charles Medical Staff.
