Meet Dr. Michael J. Sileo

Dr. Sileo is a proud Long Island native, having grown up in Garden City. He graduated magna cum laude from the College of William and Mary in 1998 before earning his medical degree at SUNY Stony Brook in 2002. His extensive training includes a surgical internship and orthopedic surgery residency at SUNY Stony Brook, where he was honored to be selected as the administrative chief resident. He further honed his expertise with a fellowship in sports medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, where he served as an assistant team orthopedist for the New York Jets, New York Islanders, Hofstra University, and Hunter University. Dr. Sileo has a wealth of knowledge, having published extensively on various injuries including rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, labral tears, complex knee ligament injuries, and Achilles tears. He has also shared his clinical research at regional and national meetings. Dr. Sileo is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in both Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery (FAAOS).

Dr. Sileo is passionate about treating both competitive and recreational athletes. He is actively involved in the community and often provides care on the sidelines of local football games. His specialties include arthroscopic and minimally invasive treatments for shoulder, hip, and knee injuries, and he has significant experience in both operative and non-operative orthopedics. Notably, Dr. Sileo is among the few orthopedic surgeons in the tri-state area who perform hip arthroscopy for minimally invasive treatment of hip labral tears and femoroacetabular impingement.

Dr. Sileo’s practice emphasizes rehabilitation and training to prevent sports-related injuries. He is also interested in treating cartilage and meniscal injuries, utilizing platelet-rich plasma therapy, and providing comprehensive fracture care. Currently, he serves as the Director for the Division of Sports Medicine at St. Charles Hospital and holds the position of President of the St. Charles Medical Staff.
